11th Annual Edition of Largest Film Event in Burgeoning Downtown Los Angeles
To Be Held at Regal L.A. LIVE Wed. Oct. 23 to Sun. Oct. 27

Submissions for films of all genres opens Dec. 15, 2018

LOS ANGELES | Dec. 5, 2018 – The 11th annual edition of DTLA Film Festival – the largest single film event in the historic center of Los Angeles, screening more than 100 films of all genres in 2018 – will be held Oct. 23-27, 2019, according to the organizers of the nonprofit organization that produces the event.

Also announced was the 2019 festival’s call for entries. Submissions for all genres will open on Dec. 15th through the online service Film Freeway. Additional information about how to submit films can be found on the festival’s website: www.dtlaff.com/submit-your-film/

“The festival enters its second decade on firm ground with this year’s box office doubling the previous year. The Los Angeles premiere screenings of carefully curated independent films from around the world, a concerted effort to showcase diversity in our programming, and the location in one of America’s most exciting urban environment appears to be a winning combination, which we’ll continue into the foreseeable future,” said Greg Ptacek, festival director. “Other festivals in L.A. may have called it quits but we’re here to stay.”

The 2018 edition of the festival, which was held Oct. 17-21, presented 30 feature films with more than 65% by women directors. The festival also screened more than 75 short content programs including films, TV pilots and web series episodes. The festival honored with its Independent Film Pioneer Awards three luminaries of independent cinema: Rossana Arquette, Malcom McDowell and Mira Sorvino.

“Coming off our best year ever, it’s exciting to be a part of the effort spearheading the amazing diversity among the next generation of filmmakers. Next year we will continue with renewed enthusiasm our mission of showcasing film by women, people of color and others traditionally underrepresented by Hollywood,” said Karolyne Sosa, director of programming.
