DTLA Film Festival in Los Angeles Selects Colleen Davie Janes To Direct Online Table Read of 2020 Screenplay Contest Winner

Contest – Accepting Features, Shorts and TV Pilots – Closes September 15th

 

LOS ANGELES | September 10, 2020 – Filmmaker Colleen Davie Janes has been tapped by DTLA Film Festival to direct the online table read for the winning entry of the Los Angeles festival’s 2020 screenplay contest. The submission deadline for the contest closes next Tuesday, Sept. 15th with the winning entry announced on Oct. 1st. The taped-to-live table read will debut on Facebook and YouTube on Thursday, Oct, 21st, followed by a live chat with the director and cast.

Davie Janes is a graduate of Boston University’s Film school with 20 years of directorial experience spanning television, film, commercial and music video. Her writing credits include short and narrative feature films as well as TV pilots. She is also a conservatory-trained actress and a former stand-up comedian.

As a filmmaker, she has won numerous awards including Best Sci-Fi, 2020 New York Movie Awards; Best Director, 2020 WRPN Web Competition; Audience Choice Award, 2017 Boston International Kids Film Festival, and Best Musical, 2017 Ladies First Int’l Film Festival. SHOOT Magazine selected her in 2017 for its“New Director to Watch” showcase in conjunction with the Directors Guild of America.

Davis cut her teeth in the film industry as a protégé of Joseph Burns, who was frequently used as a trusted assistant director by influential Hollywood filmmakers including Oliver Stone, Brian DePalma and Ron Howard.
